Homes for sale in the Macalester-Groveland area of St. Paul (Mac-Groveland) continue to climb in value as more home buyers seek out reasonably priced homes in an urban community with good schools. I can tell you from personal experience that this is a wonderful family community, not because the residents are all families, but because it is a great mix of young, old, and in between. And everyone gets out and knows their neighbors.
The community itself is sits between the Mississippi River on the west, 35E on the east, Summit on the north and Randoph on the south. The properties closer to the river tend to be more expensive. The community is walkable to restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, and coffee shops. Or take a jog down to and along the Mississippi. The community is close to several area colleges including Macalester, Saint Catherine’s, Saint Thomas, and the Mitchell Hamline School of Law. It is also a short drive to the University of Minnesota. As such, both students and professors live in the area.
Homes for sale in Macalester-Groveland area are mostly 1 ½ Story properties starting roughly around $250,000. Because of the popularity of the area, many of these homes are being rebuilt as two-story homes and these properties are being sold around $600,000.
