Effective January 15, 2020, the City of Minneapolis has added a Energy Disclosure to their Truth in Sale of Housing (TISH) requirement. Different municipalities have varying requirements to what inspections must be performed during the TISH/pre-sale inspection. To find out if your city requires a TISH inspection click here.
Minneapolis’ new disclosure requirement is an attempt to help buyers determine the energy efficiency of homes they might be interested in. The Energy Disclosure will focus on attic insulation, wall insulation, windows and heating system. Based on the inspection of these items the home will be given a score from 1 – 100 in addition to detailing recommended improvements on what can be done to improve the score. For more information on the new requirement see Structure Tech’s video below or shoot me a note with any questions.
