New Energy Disclosure Required by Minneapolis at Time of Sale

Effective January 15, 2020, the City of Minneapolis has added an Energy Disclosure to their Truth in Sale of Housing (TISH) requirement.  Different municipalities have varying requirements regarding what inspections must be performed during the TISH/pre-sale inspection.  To find out if your city requires a TISH inspection, click here.

Minneapolis’ new disclosure requirement is an attempt to help buyers determine the energy efficiency of homes they might be interested in.  The Energy Disclosure will focus on attic insulation, wall insulation, windows and heating system.  Based on the inspection of these items, the home will be given a score from 1 – 100, in addition to recommendations on improvements that can be done to improve the score.  For more information on the new requirement, click here for Structure Tech’s video or shoot me a note with any questions.
